    A practical, versatile, and well-crafted bag that men and women can both use. With three variations this bag looks professional even though it's an Advanced Beginner pattern. Make either version, a messenger, a satchel or a backpack. All versions are lined and feature eight large pockets, magnetic closures, and hardware details. Supplies: Sewing Machine, Cooper Bag pattern, (see pattern for fabric and hardware requirements), matching thread, bobbins, and basic sewing supplies.   4. Wiksten Baby Bloomers- Level 2

    Wiksten Baby Bloomers- Level 2

    (Adult) May 27th 10am-12pm

    Skills include tracing and cutting out a pattern, creating an elastic casing, creating french seams and building on seam allowance precision. These are a classic baby and toddler bloomer and bloomer style pant pattern that can easily become a wardrobe staple for any baby or toddler. They are cut slightly higher in the back so fitting them over a diaper should be no problem. The elastic waist and leg opening also make them easy for a toddler to get on and off by themselves. Recommended fabrics are light to medium weight woven fabrics like voile, lawn, chambray, quilting cotton, double gauze, and linen. Recommended supplies: Sewing Machine, Wiksten Bloomer pattern, Swedish Tracing Paper, 1/2 yard of  several fabric options, (you will have time to make more than one pair in class, and can finish up the rest on your own while the instructions are still fresh) 1.5 yards of 3/4 inch elastic for each pair, two safety pins, basic sewing supplies like scissors, pins or clips, matching thread.

    A woven t-shirt with capped sleeves and scoop neck. Fitted at the shoulders, this top falls into a loose shape below the bust. Techniques involved include straight seams, bias binding, setting sleeves and basic hemming. Recommended that students have the pattern traced and fabric cut out prior to class. Supplies- Sewing machine, Scout Tee pattern, tracing paper, light to medium light weight fabrics such as cotton, silk, lawn, voile, charmeuse, crepe de chine or wool crepe.     Review of Machine basics (winding a bobbin, threading machine, straight stitch, locking seams, seam allowance). Instruction is use of a rotary cutter, the importance of ironing seams. Students will create a lined bag with straps, learning cutting techniques and gain confidence in accurate seam allowances. Required Supplies: Sewing Machine, Rotary Cutter, 1/2 yard cotton or linen for main fabric  and a 1/2 yrd cotton fabric for lining, 1/2 yard of lightweight canvas or fusible fleece for added structure (optional) 1.5 yards cotton webbing.
