    (Adult) Sept 22nd 6-9pm. This is the Basic introductory class here at Hart's. In this class you will learn proper use of sewing machine, including threading, filling a bobbin, etc. Proper pinning for sewing, french seams, corners, and more. You will end up with a beautiful pillowcase you can use on your bed. Supplies Needed to make one pillow case: 3/4 yd cotton, 1/4 yd complimenting cotton, thread, pins, scissors, marking tool. We recommend that you purchase enough for two pillow cases to end up with a matching set.

    Hidden Star Quilt- Level 2

    (Adult)  Sept 25th- This is Day Two of a Two Day Workshop. Strip Tango Quilt class or equivalent should be completed prior to this class. Learn Half Square triangles and line piecing into quilt top by end of Class. Suggestions given for back and for quilting the completed quilt. ( Our Quilt Finishing class is the perfect opportunity to complete this project with expert instruction)

    Supplies: Instructor will contact you prior to class to discuss fabric options. Scissors, rotary cutter, ruler, straight pins
    Neutral or white thread.

    6 Pocket Tote Bag- Level 2

    (Adult) Sept 27 10am-1pm Must take a Level 1 class first, or have basic machine skills. In this class you will learn basic construction techniques while making a pocket tote bag. Class covers Proper pattern layout, using a rotary cutter, topstitching, and how to make proper box corners. Supplies needed for the class are as follows: 7/8 yd. cotton or lightweight canvas (upper bag & lining), 2/3 yd. cotton or lightweight canvas (pockets), 1/2 yd. cotton batting, 3 1/4 yd. webbing (handles), thread, pins, scissors, marking tool, and rotary cutter.

    (Kids/Teens) Sept 27th 3:30-5:30pm- This is Day One of a Two Day Workshop. Start the creative process of combining fun and complimentary fabrics while learning to make this simple backpack and gain basic sewing skills. Machine basics (winding a bobbin, threading machine, basic machine usage), straight stitching, seam allowance, locking seams, cutting out a basic pattern, creating a casing for drawstring. Supplies Needed: ½ yard of cotton for outside of bag, ½ yard of cotton for inside of bag, $5 to purchase cording as a class.

    Colette Cooper Bag- Level 3

    (Adult) Sept 29th 6-9pm- This is Day One a Two Day Workshop. Cooper gives you three different bags from one basic body: messenger bag, backpack, and satchel. These highly durable bags can be made in a range of sturdy fabrics such as duck canvas, waxed canvas, twill, and heavy ticking. This bag is also awesome using upholstery fabric! All versions are lined and feature eight large pockets, magnetic closures, and hardware details. The messenger bag (version 1) has an adjustable cross-body strap. The backpack (version 2) has two shoulder straps and a hang loop. The two-handled satchel (version 3) does double duty as a bike pannier.     (Kids/Teens) Oct 1st 10:15am-1:15pm- Day One of a Two Day Workshop. This workshop is for students who want assistance making their Halloween Costume. Students must already have basic sewing skills learned in level 1 & 2 (does not mean you need to have taken the classes at Hart's). They will bring in their own design idea, pattern, fabric and other supplies. Teacher will be their to help them through the construction process of their costume. Students must be able to work independently and have a machine at home that they can use to work on costume between classes and to be able to finish their costume. Students must bring their own patterns, fabric, thread and other notions needed for their costume. Hart's staff are available to assist with inspiration and suggestions about the appropriate fabrics and to help you create your vision. BOO!

  13. Design Your Own Apron- Level 2

    Design Your Own Apron- Level 2

    (Adult) Oct 6 10am-1pm How to create your apron with a grid ruler, learn the techniques of gathering, making a pocket, waistband and straps construction, attachment, and hemming. You will be creating this apron without a pattern, a skill that will help you be more comfortable in designing many other projects on your own. Some sewing experience is required.

    1/2yd cotton, 1/2yd complimentary cotton for pocket trims, etc..., matching thread, clear grid ruler, rotary that you purchase supplies for more than one apron and ask for guidance in different designs during class and then finish up multiple aprons at home.
